
The Coach
Kymani Smith is a health coach, firefighter, and office fitness director based in the greater New York City area. Receiving his B.A. in Health & Wellness from Buffalo State where he ran four years of college track specializing in the sprints and jumps. Kymani then went on to become a certified U.S.A. Track & Field Level 1 Coach, US ARMY Master Fitness Trainer, Firefighter Peer Fitness Coach (I.A.F.F.), Level 1 Precision Nutrition Coach (P.N.) and a Certified Personal Trainer (A.F.A.A.) specializing in sports performance, strength & conditioning and weight management. Shortly after joining the FDNY Kymani became a member of the department’s Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Training Unit. The training team responsible for prepping the future of the FDNY for the grueling academy, throughout their careers and life thereafter.
Training all fitness levels from Olympic/ X-Games Gold Medalist Shaun White, Haitian national record holder Samyr Laine to New Yorkers taking their first step into their fitness journeys, Kymani’s vision is for everyone he trains to reach their full potential while coming to a full understanding of the function and necessity of each workout. Na’im Wellness is the umbrella encompassing all of the philosophies and practices towards overall health & wellness that he lives by including but not limited too fitness, nutrition, mental and emotional health.

Training with Kymani is more like training with a close friend and not a PT. He takes time to listen and is very knowledgeable Since i’ve started with Kymani i’ve shattered my goals, created some new ones and shattered those too! He’s also a Knicks fan so that helps with the bonding experience since we can talk about our pain. All jokes aside he’s one of the best trainers there is and I would recommend him to anyone.

My training experience was amazing with Kymani. I tell him all the time he saved my life. I was overweight, became type 2 diabetic and knew that I needed help with my lifestyle change. Finding a great trainer is very challenging. I’ve had three. My first one was amazing but moved away, the other two really bombed so I was hesitant looking for a fourth trainer. I’ve lost over 35lbs with Kymani and have been able to keep it off for over a year now. When i’m not training with him I go to the gym and conduct my own workouts that I have done with him. My A1C is normal now and my doctor is going to take me off of diabetic medication. You know you have an amazing trainer when you’re cursing under your breath and you hate them for that hour but when it’s over you smile because he made you do things you never knew you were capable of doing. Kymani saved my life!

Kymani is an exceptional trainer. It’s hard to articulate how great he is. I feel safe in the exercises and programs he puts together for me. I’ve experienced training in the past where the tempo isn’t correct. Either feeling like I wasn’t being pushed hard enough or the extreme opposite. Kymani has my programming dialed in to precisely where I need. I’ve become stronger, faster, while also becoming more flexible which is incredible!
